| What We Treat |
|
|
| |
In BRT, we look at health problems from a
completely new angle. If you view it in terms of alterations
and compensations-and the more chronic the problem is, the
more alterations have taken place, you can start to make
sense out of these non-comprehendible complexities. I know
you've been taught that the body has some inborn healing
qualities. Well, why doesn't it always heal itself? If the
brain is supposed to repair and control and coordinate,
WHY doesn't it consistently do this? For a problem to continue
on and on, something obviously has to be keeping it there.
What is that something?
Let me explain - the body has
received an alteration (trauma, infection, chemical toxicity,
scar tissue, bad foods, drugs, stress, etc.) and is attempting
to compensate with the problem the best way it knows how.
It goes through a series of adaptations (tissue changes).
During these adaptations many things can go wrong. The
body normally has remarkable repair actions. It should
be able to self-correct any flaw that comes along. But
the body can very easily lose its repair abilities and
get confused. These confusions are really what cause most
of the symptoms effects in the body. BRT finds where this
confusion is located and straightens it out. In BRT, we
have a unique method of finding and correcting the real
source of the problem so the body doesn't have to respond
inappropriately anymore.

Evaluation means "to examine something more closely".
Examine means to "look". BRT looks beyond the
symptom to get an understanding of what the body is really
doing.
Without really evaluating the sequence of these body
changes (stripping an onion) and trying to attack the
dysfunction (alteration) directly always makes things
worse because the treats is on the wrong problem. Many
treatments just add more confusion and force the body
to adapt and compensate even more. It's like wearing ear
plugs to compensate for the clanking noise in your engine.
Such treatment is the wrong goal. To begin to solve this
problem, you have to do what most people rarely do - answer
the very important question Why?

|
Cause and Effect
BRT doesn't treat illness, disease or symptoms.
That's the medical model. In BRT, we only use these effects
(symptoms) as indicator lights to guide us as to what
the body is attempting to do. By looking beyond the symptoms
and understanding the mechanics of what the body is compensating
for, you can get to the root cause very quickly.
Lets take near or far-sightedness. What do most people
do? They wear corrective lenses, which is a joke because
they don't create anything. If you examine what causes
the lens to get into focus you will find that the autonomic
system is directly responsible. In BRT, we find that this
neurological component to be either in an over or under
compensation. The balance is off and the person losses
their focus. BRT finds the imbalance and corrects the real cause.
Lets' take hot flashes. Why do some women experience
and not others? The hormone pathways in a female body
follow specific routes from the ovaries up into the pituitary
and hypothalamus. But when the ovaries run of eggs and
sex hormones at age 52, the adrenal glands kick in and
back up the retiring ovaries. If the adrenals are blocked
energetically in any way, the communication never gets
back up to the hypothalamus. Since the endocrine system
is a communication system with a part that sends and a
part that receives, great stress can occur within the hypothalamus as these messages
never arrive. It's like talking to someone who ignores
you - you'll get angry. The perspiration (sweating) center
is in the same nuclei as the ovary control center. This
imbalance creates a timed (every 10 minutes) heat flush.
HRT (estrogen) then acts as the missing reply message
to the hypothalamus (master gland in the brain). It is
the artificial reply that the hypothalamus has been waiting
for. This calms everything down and the hot flashes go
away. The only problem is the slight minor side-effects
- stroke and cancer.

|
|
|
|
How about blood pressure - what is the compensating for?
The body normally maintains a strict blood chemistry,
a level blood sugar and a constant blood pressure. If
pH of the blood runs too alkaline, the oxygen can't be
release from the hemoglobin. This triggers the hypothalamus
to over compensate by increase its pressure to maintain
the same level of oxygen. The three main organs that control
the pH are the adrenals, kidneys and liver.
100% symptoms are NOT normal at all. I'm not talking
about the acute injuries. It is absolutely not normal
for a person to ever experience a hot flash or a menstrual
cramp. Fatigue and insomnia are not normal. Our eyes should
always be 20/20 and nothing less than perfect unless there
is a structural limitation. The body should never attack
its own tissue (auto-immune) - this is insanity. Each
muscle in your body should be at the proper tone - relaxed.
The prostate is not designed to enlarge, and you shouldn't
ever need a nap in the mid-afternoon unless you haven't
slept the night before. Your nails should never grow vertical
ridges and hair should never fall out at age 40 or 50
unless it's genetic. You should never have to get up several
times a night to urinate because your bladder can't hold urine.
BRT has a superior understanding of WHY the body acts inappropriately.

Inappropriate Compensations Get Stuck
Once the body compensates, it losses its awareness it
has the problem. It experienced a change, and as far as
it's concerned it needs to adapt to the change and then
moves on to something else. The body basically learns
to cope with the problem and this coping is the new training
pattern. It maintains a juggling act in an effort to keep
everything in balance and in most cases in a crazy way.
Inappropriate reactions can continue an entire lifetime.
BRT is a system of evaluation and correction that bypasses
the body's inappropriate coping. It brings the body back
to a state in which these alterations are no longer necessary.
The Real Reason Behind Health Problems
Have you heard the old sayings, "Health conditions
are self-limiting" (they go away by themselves with
time)? This is so far from the truth. Time doesn't heal
all, as far as the body goes. Time always makes things
worse down the road. The initial pain might go away but
let's look at what happens down the road. The body's attempt
to heal itself is often a far cry from the resolution
of the problem. The body heals by compensating to some stress.
|
|
|
|
|
Compensate: To make up for; to counteract or make allowance
for (a variation); to counterbalance a defect in the structure
or function of a part by greater activity in another part.
Compensation is the change that occurs within the body
to make up for something else. When the body reacts to
stress, it doesn't plan for the future. The brain has
pre-programmed responses built in. These pre-programmed
reactions never change BUT their communication networks
can get blocked. Let's take muscles. You could have spasms
within the low back, which is compensating for a disc
weakness. But after the treatment, whether surgery, chiropractic
or therapy, the back pain is still there. Unless you have a system
that is broad enough to check ALL the possibilities,
you can miss the obvious. We have discovered that the
CAUSE of 90% of pain and inflammation a person has is
rarely found at the site they feel it. When you find the
correct cause, results are immediate. If the body is lacking
something, it will make it up by holding onto something
else. For example, low stomach acid - can lead to the
body holding onto lactic acid in the muscles. Or if one
area in the body gets damaged, another area will compensate
by attempting to make up for it, (the adrenals work extra
hard when the heart gets weak). BRT uses these compensations
to find the real underlying weak link.
The entire body adapts from ONE central internal reference
point-the blood. The body will do almost anything to maintain
an exact blood chemistry and keep the level of protein,
sugar, minerals, pH levels (acid-base), vitamins, inflammatory
factors, hormones, oxygen levels, and so forth, constant
IN THE BLOOD. For example, if a person were missing anti-inflammatory
factors in the blood, the body would steal it from the
muscles and cause inflammation in the muscle, not the
other way around. With BRT, one is able to really find
out if it is the chicken or the egg.

Metabolism shutting down? The outside of a body can give
many clues to the inside. If a gland or organ is weakened,
body fat will accumulate at very specific locations. It's
very predictable and mechanical. The thyroid, adrenal,
ovary and liver imbalances can greatly distort the body.
Many people are targeting the FAT as the primary thing
to rid instead of correctly evaluating the cause. If you
truly understand the characteristics and mechanics of
stubborn metabolism, you can reverse it. Is it water weight?
Is it fat? WHY is the body holding extra weight in the
stomach? And why is it that many people can't lose weight
with exercise?
There are two main types of energy systems the body uses to make energy
or store energy. One burns fat and which one burns sugar. The "lose
weight by consuming less calories than are expended" theory doesn't
fit into the equation of the endocrine system. There are many other
false theories that have lead to an entire population being fat.

 |
|
Inappropriate Responses?
The body is adapting constantly. In most stressful situations,
the body will usually adapt inappropriately. It does this
in both extremes - over-reacting (persistent inflammation)
and under-reacting (numbness). And the body is so good
at constantly adapting, it does so automatically. One
part of the body takes over for another part that needs
help. The body does not work independently but as a whole.
The body even adapts in response to its own adaptations
over and over again. And the more inappropriate adaptations
a body accumulates, the more chronic (long-standing) a condition
becomes. BRT has a unique way of taking the body out of unnatural
adaptation and bringing it to its normal function.
Inappropriate Compensations Get Stuck
The second the body is overwhelmed, the brain loses control
and starts to get confused. The body experienced a sudden
change, and as far as it's concerned, it needs to adapt
to the change BUT at that moment something is lost - the
healing-repair response from the brain. These sudden changes
are called energy blockages and can be located anywhere
- organs, glands, brain and other tissues. The body then
learns to live with the problem without ever fully correcting
the problem. It maintains a juggling act in an effort
to keep everything in balance and in most cases in a crazy
way. Inappropriate reactions can continue an entire lifetime.
A good example of this is within the immune system. A
person gets a communication blockage within the immune
organs and the immune system over time loses its tracking
and targeting ability. The immune system doesn't even
know where the problem is anymore. Not only does this
occur but the immune system now inappropriately attacks one's own
tissues. How insane can this get? The immune system might have
some sense that it is fighting something but just can't
find it. You've seen this with people with advanced arthritis
as one joint gets destroyed, then the next and the next.
If the body can destroy itself so wonderfully, why couldn't
it do the reverse and repair itself?

|
|
|
Viruses are a good example. Viruses are not alive, they
can only live off our cells machinery. You can never kill
a virus because it wasn't alive in the first place. It
goes in remission and pops out when your resistance is
low. It's really your cells resistance that sets up viral infection. BRT has a unique
way of strengthening this lowered resistance.
The endocrine system is another great example. As the
body's other communication system, it coordinates with
the nervous system to experience sensation and regulate
body function. These endocrine pathways follow exact circuits.
Energy blockages can easily alter these messages and either
give mixed messages or a lack of messages. BRT uses the
acupressure point system in a way to uncover the exact
location of energy blockages with organs and glands.
BRT is a system of evaluation and correction, which bypasses
the body's inappropriate responses. It brings the body
back to a state in which these responses are no longer
necessary.

|
The Body's Defense Mechanism
The body uses a defense mechanism that is supposedly designed
to protect us against various STRESSES. After insult of
any kind, the body sends all sorts of anti-inflammatory
factors to the area of problem. BUT the body's attempts
to handle one problem turns into another problem-the anti-inflammatory
response eventually turns into a chronic inflammatory
response. This now excess inflammation that won't go away
can occur in the tendons, ligaments, muscles, joint capsule,
disc, bone, nerves, blood vessels or soft tissues. BRT
has a unique way of getting the body out of this inappropriate
defense mechanism.
Referred Problem Mechanism
We have found that the majority of health problems in
the body are RARELY coming from where the patient perceives
the symptoms. They are being referred from somewhere completely
different. This is the hallmark of BRT and why it works
so magically. Have you ever tried to fix the wrong problem?
Good luck. BRT uses body reflex points to not only find
where the major and minor aspects of problems are coming
from. The patient is usually unaware of this - they usually
think that they have it completely figured out, yet they are
completely unable to resolve it. When you do
a BRT assessment, the BRT practitioner can find out all
the areas of causation - it can be multiple sources.

|
|
Loss of Communication
The body is filled with communication circuits - glandular
circuits, neurological circuits, visceral circuits, cardiovascular
circuits, immune circuits and metabolic pathways.
Body circuits: a system of communication pathways which
allow flows of messages, energy or electrical signals.
It always contains some circular connection.
In adapting to stressors, these communications become
lost; the body now can slip from acute (sudden) into chronic
(long-term) conditions. From a minor pain, the body can
adapt to a major inflammatory degenerative arthritis.
In some cases the relay messages from an organ back to
the brain are missing creating an incomplete circuit.
In other cases, it's the transmitting of signals that
fails to occur. BRT assists to find the part of the connections
that get disconnected.
As the stages of degeneration worsen, the more the body
no longer fully communicates with itself. This lack of
communication leads to less organized and more random
function-less control and more confusion.

|
|
|
|
Why would the immune system let a virus cause a wart
on the nose? First of all, it doesn't even know it is
there. If it did, it would take care of it and never let
it grow. Why would the body let one of its joint be attacked
by its own immune system? When the body loses control
of any of its parts, that part can develop into unlimited
problems.
The Examination -The Missing Step
With BRT, we try to trace the problem back, alteration
by alteration, to the actual cause and allow the body
to stop compensating unnecessarily.
Pain
Consider an injury to your ankle. This can quickly get
very complicated. Because the ankle hurts, the opposite
(compensating) foot and leg take over to reduce the stress
load. The (opposite) good ankle and leg then develop tension
and tightness. When a person walks, inhibitory nerve impulses
are relayed through the spinal cord from one ankle to
the opposite side; this is the body's coordination system.
Many injuries lead to chronic pain syndromes in the opposite
side of the body because of our natural tendency to overcompensate
for the original problem. I'm sure you can think back
to an injury that caused you to limp around using the
opposite of your body to support the injured side. This
really creates major problems to the supportive side,
but the problems only appear years later.
|
|
|
|
|
When you have pain that persists, you have to realize
that the cause is usually in a completely different location.
Pain in the right side (shoulder blade) usually stems
from your gallbladder, for example. To resolve pain permanently,
you must identify the source of pain, and in most cases
it is not where you hurt. A BRT evaluation will include
an examination of all possible sources.
With BRT, one can assess the true cause of pain. Many
chronic pain problems never go away because the practitioner
is attempting to solve the wrong problem. It's amazing
to find out how fast a problem can go away if the correct
cause is found.
How Does BRT Evaluate These Alterations?
Fortunately, the body has a built-in keypad and indicator
light-type mechanism to assess not only the location of
a problem but also the cause. The body is basically a
living computer (computers within computers) composed
of a multitude of electrical circuits, switches, resisters,
and fuses. These many circuits in the body are set on automatic
(involuntary). These circuits are directly connected between the
nervous system and the endocrine system (hormone system). Like
a computer, the body can be susceptible to viruses, interferences,
overloads, blown fuses, shut downs, program freezes, and
so forth.
|
|
|
|
|
Information about the nature and cause of these alterations
can be assessed through muscle testing. Because the body
is a bioelectrical computer and because nerves control
muscles, the arm muscle can assess electrical energy.
Acupuncture and nerve-muscle points are the keyboard used
to "tap into" or "log onto" the bio-computer
to gain information. Acupressure points or body reflex
points are transmitters and receptors. The surface points
on the body are the links to the nervous system and brain.
Just try touching a hot stove and you'll understand how
the receptors work. With BRT, we use muscle testing and
acupressure points to assess what went wrong
in the body. We can find the blocks between the different
organs and between the brain and the body through these
points. A tremendous amount of research and trial and
error has been done to find out how to do this. BRT gives
the practitioner the unfair advantage in getting results
that no one is able to do. You almost feel guilty because
it seems so easy.
Compared to other techniques, BRT uniquely looks at inappropriate
responses and gets a deep understanding of exactly what
the body is doing - this is the key to resolving the problem.
If you can't understand what the body is ompensating for,
how can a person ever correct it?
